August 2006 - 820 Park Hill Avenue

The Home of the Month for August belongs to Amanda McCrimmon. With the help of the construction company she works for, Amanda has been busy renovating her home since she purchased it in 2004. She started with repairing the chimney that had separated from the body of her house. She also repainted the interior, gave her fireplace a facelift, and completely renovated the kitchen, peeling away five layers of linoleum to reveal the original heart pine floors and adding new cabinetry that reflects the age of the home. Amanda also fenced in her backyard and added new landscaping to the front yard. Her choice of four complementary exterior colors works perfectly with the style of her Craftsman bungalow. She is currently in the midst of a bathroom redo, which added charming wainscoting and highlights a black and silver clawfoot tub. She has plans to complete a back porch repair and renovation of the detached studio in the backyard. Amanda currently shares her home with her cats and a little dog known as Lupita. Amanda loves her home’s character but perhaps the most special story to tell about her house is that it was here, during the hurricanes, that she met and fell in love with her next-door neighbor. The two are now planning a July wedding.
