June’s Home of the Month is the new home of John and Kristin Williams. Last summer, after a visit to Lakeland for brunch with friends, the couple found themselves on a drive around Lake Morton where they fell in love with this 1925 home on the east side of the lake. The home’s history is still unclear but rumored previous lives include being Mr. Morton’s summer home, a Sears Home, subdivided into apartments, and a bed and breakfast (Lake Morton Inn). In 1999, it became a single family home again when it was completely remodeled by the previous owner. Renovations included restoring the staircase and adding new plumbing and wiring. The large home has three fireplaces and multiple clawfoot bathtubs. The Williams have had to do little to the house other than furnish and love it, but they have added to the tasteful landscaping and also repainted a couple of rooms. Although the move to Lakeland means that the couple has a bit of a commute to their jobs in Tampa, they love their new home and neighborhood and picture staying here for a long time. John and Kristin share the home with their beloved pugs, Lucy and Angel, and two cats, Buddy and Jasmine.
