February 2006 - 739 Park Hill Avenue

This charming bungalow is home to Tim Calhoon, a pharmaceutical sales representative and fellow LMNA member, and his 17-year old daughter. When they moved in just over a year ago, the home was move-in ready, thanks in part to the previous owners’ total remodel of the 1930 block house. The electrical and plumbing systems were replaced, new sheetrock was installed to smooth out the walls and ceilings, and the kitchen and baths were freshly updated. Although Tim admits to changing some of the interior paint (his daughter’s bedroom is four shades of blue (one for each wall)), he has otherwise just enjoyed living here. And what’s not to enjoy? The fireplace in the living room welcomes you into the home, alongside built-in bookshelves and entertainment center. A built-in bench in the dining room provides some additional storage. The personalized remodel of the kitchen explains the ceiling height cabinets and higher countertops (made to suit the 6’10” previous man of the house). Large closets make for great storage in each of the two large bedrooms. Tim also appreciates the addition of the second bathroom, adjoined to the master bedroom, so now he does not have to try to share a bathroom with his teenage daughter. The enclosed back porch houses the washer, dryer, and a built-in desk. Future plans include changing the dining room wall color from a rich red to a deep purple. A special feature of the home is the detached guest cottage located at the rear of the property, where Tim’s older daughter lives. It is great to be able to keep family nearby. This older home is a fine example of renovation and restoration gone right. The comfortable spaces make for comfortable living. Tim Calhoon is a proud owner and looks forward to enjoying many more years here.
