John & Ilene Chaney

This beautiful home belongs to John and Ilene Chaney, and their dachshund Bo. The Chaneys bought their home in 1976, when they moved to Lakeland from Indiana. The home was purchased from Dr. McNaughton’s mother, who is believed to be the original owner. Prior to retiring, Ilene worked for GTE Phone Company (Verizon), and John was in construction. The gorgeous two bedroom / two bath home was built in 1922, has a full basement and a front porch with a breathtaking view of Lake Morton and downtown Lakeland. Swans can often be seen nesting or sleeping on the front steps or in the bushes. The home has two front entrances and Ilene believes that, at one time, the porch was a wrap-around extending onto the side of the home. The Chaneys have three children, a son and two daughters, and three granddaughters. The Chaneys absolutely love Lakeland and never plan to move!
