August 2005 - 1030 Pennsylvania Avenue
This Craftsman style bungalow was built in 1925. It has many architectural features which are typical of the period, such as the original hardwood flooring designed and laid in a very unique pattern, red accents on the fireplace and chimney, double-hung and casement windows, and a large front porch. Heather and Jim Conte have lived in the house about 3 1/2 years. Heather is an insurance broker and Jim works from home as a consultant in safety management. They live with their "son" Marley the chocolate lab. Since purchasing the home the couple have added their own personal touches by repainting, remodeling and filling the home with their antiques. The home is decorated with the warm colors of the bungalow era, but you can also find Victorian influences in many of the rooms. Heather and Jim enjoy renovating and decorating their home, antique shopping, traveling, cooking and spending time together. Plans are in the works to add an additional bedroom and bath as well as remodel the kitchen. The Conte's love the charm of their neighborhood and the warmth of great neighbors.
