November 2005 - 1122 Success Ave.

This historic home was bought by Larry and Marilyn Chapman two years ago from the Ellingtons of Lakeland. The home sits on two and a half lots of land close to Lake Hollingsworth. This is a unique home for it is really two homes in one. The main house has three bedrooms and three and a half baths. The mother-in-law suite is attached to the home and boasts another kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. The home also has a convenient wash room. The Chapmans have stained the wood floors, added beautiful stained glass light fixtures, installed central air conditioning, put in an irrigation system and sod, and added a new deck in the back and a driveway. They lived in the home during the renovations and slept in the dining room! Most of the furniture in their home came from The Barn, an antiques shop in Lake Alfred which imports their antiques from Wales. Marilyn has decorated the home herself, and her interest in interior design is easily noticed. Larry and Marilyn’s daughter, Sarah, 16, attends Lakeland High School and plans to enroll at Florida Southern College in the Psychology program. Marilyn is a homemaker and is originally from Long Island, New York. Larry works for Pepperidge Farms. Grandma lives in the mother-in-law suite. Also included in the family are four adorable little dogs. The Chapmans will soon retire to their 39-acre farm in Pikeville, Tennessee.
