October 2003 - 714 Park Hill Avenue
My home was built in 1925. I purchased it in 2000 while I was attending college, but did not move into it until August of 2002. With the help of my parents, Steve and Nancy Collins, and my younger brother Jonathan, we worked for 2 years restoring it. The house has one bedroom, one bath, a large eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, sunroom, laundry room, and a fireplace. There is a deck built off of the eat-in kitchen area with brick walkways and landscaping through out the back yard. When I purchased the house it was in pretty good condition, it just needed some tender loving care. We painted the entire interior and exterior of the house, and I also had a new roof put on. On the inside, there are wood floors throughout except the kitchen (tile ) and the bedroom (carpet). I had the floors refinished and they turned out beautifully. In the kitchen, everything was removed except the top cabinets. We put in new countertops, sink, snack bar, bottom cabinets to match the top cabinets, and a tile floor. I have furnished my house in the vintage era and I can honestly say that it has turned out to be exactly as I had.
